LANSING, Mich.  Today, Governor Whitmer signed Senate Bills 241, 676, 1137, 1234 and 1246 as well as House Bills 5481 and 5824 into law.
 
Senate Bill 241, creating the Water Shutoff Restoration Act, promotes access to clean water and protects Michiganders from the spread of COVID-19 by ensuring that every occupied residence has access to clean running water so that they can regularly hand-wash consistent with CDC guidance. The bill prohibits water shutoffs due to nonpayment and mandates that water services be restored to residences where shutoffs have occurred, in most circumstances, through March 31, 2021. This bill was sponsored by Senator Stephanie Chang, D-Detroit.  ....

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed legislation to stop water shutoffs during the pandemic. It’s one of several bills she signed Tuesday. The governor’s office has released the following:

As house prices reached a record high recently, what were the top homes sold in Norfolk in 2020? 
Unsurprisingly, the majority of the highest prices paid for properties which were not a country estate, farm or business, were located in north Norfolk.
The most expensive home was Flint House, High Street, Thornham which sold privately for £2.28m in August.
But another property in the same location, Tanglewood, High Street, Thornham also ranks in the top of the million pound plus homes sold.
Others include Hill House, Bramerton, an impressive Victorian home with its own castellated tower. ....

Go-ahead for new homes in Herefordshire village
COUNTY planners have given the go-ahead to a scheme to build five new homes in a village near Hereford.
Mr and Mrs Thomas’ plans to develop land to the west of Ashdown House in Marden was approved after three rounds of voting today (December 16).
Planning officers recommended giving the go-ahead the proposals for a trio of three-bed detached houses and a pair of two-bed semi-detached homes.
The scheme was opposed by Marden parish council and some 40 objectors.
And despite ward councillor Kema Guthrie’s calls to reject the scheme, councillors approved it.
“I strongly appeal to members of this committee to duly give much weight to the Marden neighbourhood development plan and to the many public representations who raised concerns,” she asked today’s (December 16) planning and regulatory committee. ....
