Licking County proms, graduations plan for new normal

NEWARK - After a 2020 spring lost to the pandemic, Licking County high schools are gearing up for a prom season that will at least retain some semblance of normalcy.
Graduations, of course, were also significantly altered last year by COVID-19, and are also taking shape with new looks for this year. Both prom and graduation plans are being submitted to the Licking County Health Department for approval.
In the case of Granville and Newark Catholic, proms already took place on Saturday this weekend. Due to the pandemic, our seniors have missed normal events dating back into their junior year, said Granville principal Matt Durst, whose school s prom was held Saturday night at Bryn Du Field House. While our prom looked different than a traditional prom would have looked pre-pandemic, we were happy to provide them an opportunity to have this experience.
