Wilson County Schools will transition students in grades 6-12 to full-time, in-person classes starting later this month, according to an announcement by the district.
Transition dates are:
Monday, Feb. 22: Students in grades 9-12 will return to full-time traditional learning.
The district based its decision to phase-in grades 6-12 to a traditional model on recent data and feedback from school administrators, Wilson County Schools Public Information Officer Bart Barker said. ....

WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WTVF) — Students haven t even finished this school year, but Wilson County School officials are already asking parents to make a decision for next year.
Some Wilson County parents have to soon decide whether or not they want their child to learn virtually for the 2021-2022 school year.
Registration for Wilson County s Virtual Learning Program is open to students in only 6 - 12th grade who are not participating in a school sport. The deadline to submit your application is February 24.

LEBANON, Tenn. (WTVF) — Wilson County School officials announced that K-5 students will transition to a full-time traditional learning schedule beginning Mon., Jan. 25. Voluntary Pre-K and Exceptional Education Pre-K students will transition to a full-time traditional schedule as well.
Students in grades 6-12 will remain on the current hybrid model. And masks/face coverings will still be required for all students in grades K-12.
School officials say they will continue to monitor local health data daily. Our intent is to remain in these models unless critical data points indicate that a change is necessary, the announcement stated. ....

Editor’s note: This is the second in a two-part series looking back at major events in Wilson County throughout 2020. The first installment was published in the Democrat’s Tuesday, Dec. 29 edition.
COVID-19 continued disrupting every facet of life in Wilson County, but the second half of 2020 also marked a concerted effort to fight back.
