Topics Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has completed a trial to demonstrate how future mobility systems can support traffic management at a busy intersection. Carried out as part of TfGM’s Project Synergy with partner Yunex Traffic (formerly Siemens Mobility’s Intelligent Traffic Systems), it has integrated V2X (vehicle to everything) infrastructure, the communication of road signs via IVI (in-vehicle information) messages, and the use of the company’s Signal Phase and Timing (SPaT) software module and roadside unit (RSU). Pollution fears rise as traffic surges in Scottish cities New data shows that traffic levels in Edinburgh and Glasgow have exceeded pre-pandemic levels, adding to fears about air quality following delays to Scotland’s planned Low Emission Zones (LEZs). The data, sourced by Siemens Mobility Limited in partnership with HERE Technologies, shows that daily traffic in Edinburgh is 7% higher in comparison to February 2020, with Glasgow recording traffic levels 4% higher than before the pandemic.
