https://www.afinalwarning.com/517450.html (Natural News) A new study published in the journal In one test, the bonnetheads were tricked into thinking that they were located south of their home. In response, the sharks positioned themselves in a northerly direction, suggesting that they used the artificial magnetic field to orient themselves homeward. “It had been unresolved how sharks managed to successfully navigate during migration to targeted locations,” said Keller, who is a researcher at the Florida State University Coastal and Marine Laboratory. “This research supports the theory that they use the Earth’s magnetic field to help them find their way; it’s nature’s GPS.” ....

But which sense or organ allows them to orient themselves on their migrations, which sometimes go far beyond their local foraging areas and therefore require an extended ability to navigate? Scientific experiments led by the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (Leibniz-IZW), published together with Prof. Richard A. Holland (Bangor University, UK) and Dr. Gunārs P?tersons (Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies) now show that the cornea of the eyes is the location of such an important sense in migrating bats. If the cornea is anaesthetised, the otherwise reliable sense of orientation is disturbed while light detection remains unimpaired. The experiment suggests the localisation of a magnetic sense in mammals. The paper is published in the scientific journal ....
October 5, 2017 William Wehrum is a lawyer and once, apparently, worked for the EPA. Trump is trying to appoint him to be assistant administrator for air and radiation. This is a reasonably important job that concerns many aspects of the environment.
