Four different scorers put a puck in the back of the net for the Stampede, while Trent Burnham made the start in net, stopping 22 of 27 shots on net. The Lincoln Stars opened the scoring with three goals in the first period to blanket the Herd in the first period. Henry Nelson and Luke Mittelstadt tallied their first career USHL goals at 5:35 and 7:17 of the first period for the early 2-0 lead. James Stefan made it 3-0 at 14:42 of the period into the first intermission. ....

/ Sports Radio KWSN Mar 10, 2021 10:10 PM LINCOLN, Neb. (KELO.com) – The Sioux Falls Stampede dropped their third straight game after a 9-4 loss to the Lincoln Stars at the Ice Box Wednesday night. The Stars tallied six-straight goals in six minutes and 27 seconds in the first period, chasing starting goaltender Noah Grannan out of net. The Sioux Falls Stampede took the first goal of the game at 8:52 of the first period for the early lead. Michael Citara tallied his thirteenth goal of the season on the power play unassisted. The Lincoln Stars answered back less than three minutes later to tie the game. The game quickly unraveled from there as Nikolai Mayorov, Griffin Jurecki, James Stefan, Jake Beaune and Yu Sato all scored goals four minutes and 26 seconds apart for a 6-1 lead at the end of period one. ....

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Stampede) – The Sioux Falls Stampede were looking for the three-game weekend sweep but came up short in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Sioux City Musketeers at the Tyson Events Center Sunday afternoon. Dan Russell scored both goals for the Herd, while Noah Grannan made the start in net after missing the last two weeks due to injury. He stopped 22 of 25 shots faced in net. The two teams finished the first period scoreless, continuing the streak from last night where neither team scored in the second or third period. Each team failed on a power play attempt that left it scoreless after one. ....

Seven different players tallied goals for the Herd, while Cole Sillinger tallied his first career USHL hat trick in the contest. Christian Stoever made the start in net, stopping 30 of 34 shots on net. The first game of a three-game, road trip weekend could not have started any worse as the Lincoln Stars opened with two quick goals in the first seven minutes of the period. After James Stefan and Jake Beaune tallied goals for the Stars, Stampede Head Coach Marty Murray called a timeout. Thirty seconds later Cole Sillinger scored his fifth goal in six games for the Herd to get within one. Luke Toporowski provided the assist on the play. ....
