DELANCO, NJ – Burlington County’s push to develop additional miles of pedestrian and bicycling trails continued this month as construction started on a new trail linking Amico Island Park in Delran to Pennington Park in Delanco.
The new path is one of several new trails projects in the works or near completion in Burlington County, which already has more than 1,000 acres of developed parkland and 50-plus miles of interconnecting hiking, biking and running trails.

Burlington County adopts $233 million budget with no tax levy increase
MOUNT HOLLY The Burlington County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday adopted the 2021 county budget with no tax levy increase.
The $233 million budget calls for a combined tax levy of $190 million, including $169.7 million for county operations, $11 million for the Burlington County Library System and $9.9 million for open space and farmland preservation operations all unchanged from 2020.
“While the economic outlook has brightened considerably from a year ago, we know the crisis has not yet ended and that many families and small businesses are still struggling,” said Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson. “Our county is still in recovery so our Board was determined not to add to our residents’ tax burdens.

New year, new title for Burlington County board
MOUNT HOLLY Burlington County’s governing body will no longer go by the board of chosen freeholders.
It is now known as the Burlington County Board of Commissioners after legislation to remove the outdated title, seen as a symbol of racial injustice, went into effect on Jan. 1.
The board held its reorganization meeting, the first meeting under its new name and first meeting of the year, on Wednesday.
Commissioners Tom Pullion and Balvir Singh were sworn in to new terms after their reelection in November, and Commissioner Dan O’Connell was appointed deputy director of the board.
