Mealing explained that it was important for the show to mention COVID-19, saying: We all experienced it, we all lived through it, and we acknowledge it – because it is part of our lives now – but I don t think people want to sit down every Saturday and trawl through that. It s heavy and it s a lot. I don t think anyone wants to sit through that every week. We do have to move on in the following weeks but COVID is still a part of the ED experience.
