Milwaukee janitors rallied Tuesday afternoon at Zeidler Union Square to launch their campaign for a new union contract.  
The janitors and Milwaukee Area Service and Hospitality Workers Organization (MASH) are set to begin negotiations on a labor agreement with Milwaukee area contractors in the coming weeks. Their contract demands include a $15 minimum wage and union-level employment protections for all cleaners in Milwaukee. They also are demanding a “voice and seat at the table for janitors,” said MASH President ....

In response to an Urban Milwaukee story detailing misleading statements by Democratic U.S. Senate hopeful
Alex Lasry‘s campaign regarding his work to assure that employees working at the Milwaukee BucksFiserv Forum and Deer District get union jobs and a $15 an hour minimum wage, his campaign announced it was changing the language used on his campaign website.
“We acknowledge that the language on the website was not clear and have made the change to clarify it,” Lasry campaign spokesman ....

Milwaukee Tool is quickly moving forward on its proposal to bring up to 2,000 jobs to downtown Milwaukee. The company closed on its purchase of the five-story office building at 501 W. Michigan St. last week.
Milwaukee Tool previously said it anticipates beginning redevelopment work on the 370,000-square-foot building this summer. It would eventually bring all of the employees associated with a single product line to the downtown facility, augmenting its Brookfield and Menomonee Falls facilities. ....
