New DNA testing identifies John Doe #1 found in 1994 believed to be victim of Hog Trail Murders serial killer

Possible victim of serial killer identified via DNA 27 years later in Charlotte County

Cold case investigators with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office have identified Gerald (Jerry) Lombard as a possible victim of a serial killer based on DNA from remains found in 1994. According to CCSO, on Feb. 1, 1994, they received a call from a local construction company worker who reported finding a decomposing human body in the woods near Wyandotte Avenue and Tulip Street in northern Charlotte County. There was no identification found with the body and early attempts to identify the person were not successful, so the body was given the name of “John Doe #1.” The cause of death was also undetermined.

Updated: 4:49 PM CDT May 17, 2021 KMBC 9 News Staff The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department s Sex Crimes Unit said it is attempting to identify a man in two recent aggravated assaults downtown.Police said the first assault happened near the parking garage of Barney Allis Plaza at Central and Wyandotte Avenue on May 9 at 9:15 a.m.Investigators said the second assault was reported in the parking garage at 1261 Main St. on Thursday at 6:28 a.m.Authorities said the man should be considered armed.Anyone who can identify the man or has any information is asked to call the Tips Hotline at 816-474-8477.
