NEW BEDFORD Mother’s Day is May 9, and it isn’t too late to plan a special outing for your mom on her special day. If you need some ideas, here are some “motherly happenings” around the SouthCoast.
“It’s a day to honor and celebrate the most important woman in your life,” says Charlie Fellows, general manager of White’s of Westport. Fellows says he s excited that White s annual Mother’s Day brunch buffet is planned for Sunday, after taking a year off due to COVID-19.
“It s become a tradition,” he said. “Year after year, we see the same people returning over and over again.”
We haven t stopped smiling since Thursday s announcement from Governor Charlie Baker that the capacity restrictions are going to be lifted Monday on Massachusetts restaurants.
While restaurants will still need to keep customers socially distant, limit table time to 90 minutes and seat parties up to six people maximum, it is a big step in the right direction for an industry that has been taking it on the chin for a solid year.
One huge step forward on Monday will be the green light for SouthCoast restaurants to host musical performances. Business models for places like Airport Grille and The Vault at Greasy Luck were specifically designed for live music. It s no secret that entertaining live music brings in the dollars for places like these.
