NOAA: Warning issued for Connecticut with critical fire weather conditions expected FacebookTwitterEmail The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has issued a “red flag warning” across Southern New England and specifically for the Hartford, Tolland, and Windham counties in Connecticut. The warning in place until 5 p.m. Saturday indicates “critical fire weather conditions are expected” with a forecast of strong winds and low humidity. The high-powered winds can dry surface fuels causing fires to spread quickly and be tough to put out, according to the NOAA. Connecticut is commonly known to experience “high forest fire danger” between mid-March and May. The NOAA noted having a “busy start” to the spring fire season after documenting multiple brush fires, including one at the Maltby Lake woods in West Haven today. ....
