From staff reports âMURDERERSâ â The cast of âMurderersâ includes, from left, Cathie Spencer, Eric T. Dutton and Vera Barton-Maxwell. Contributed WHEELING Comedic tales of revenge, blackmail, sex, money and jealousy are themes in Towngate Theatre’s latest production, “Murderers” by acclaimed playwright Jeffrey Hatcher, a native of Steubenville. Specially chosen and directed by Butch Maxwell, the production will close Towngate’s 2020-21 season of community theater which is sponsored by Unified Bank. Performed as three separate monologues, stories primarily center around a luxury retirement village in Florida’s gulf coast. “Murderers” is not a whodunit instead, the culprits are introduced immediately. The fun for audiences will be following the how and why of three distinct cat-and-mouse mysteries as each killer confesses their plot, crimes and mishaps. ....

Count Bob Gale as being a member of that short list. Gale, who served for more than 15 years as a councilman and mayor of Wintersville, announced during Village Council’s April 1 meeting that he planned to step down from the post on April 30. That will bring an end to a long career that saw many accomplishments in the village, from improvements to the water and sewer system to seeing new businesses choosing to locate there. ....
