On March 11, 2021 one year ago to the day the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic a long line of community members were wrapped around the north side of our campus, eager to receive their COVID-19 vaccine. Three months after vaccinating our first health care provider at Winona Health on December 18, 2020 we’ve been vaccinating priority groups as supply became available, and we’re now to the phase where vaccine supplies seem to be flowing more steadily. In the state and locally we have hit a pretty good threshold of vaccination for the over-65 population – and on March 9, the governor and the Minnesota Department of Health expanded the criteria so that anyone under 65 with underlying health conditions could now get the vaccine. ....
(3/17/2021) The number of requests for a scheduled appointment for the Wednesday, March 17, COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Winona Health far exceeded the number of doses available, which means that there will not be a walk-in vaccination clinic at Winona Health on Friday, March 19, as previously planned. Those who are scheduled to receive their second vaccine at Winona Health will still do so on their scheduled date as planned. “The number of calls and online request forms we’ve received has been overwhelming, and we are grateful that so many community members are interested in getting vaccinated,” said Sara Gabrick, chief operating officer, surgical/specialty services. “We understand people’s desire to get vaccinated and hope that our community knows that we are eager to get more people vaccinated as vaccine becomes available, and we appreciate how understanding people have been as we work hard to meet the demand.” ....

They are continuing with an appointment-only clinic today for individuals who were given a scheduled time by Winona Health. By TJ Photo: Winona Health (KWNO)- Winona Health will hold its next COVID-19 vaccine clinics on Wednesday and Friday this week. The Wednesday clinic is by appointment only and the Friday clinic is a walk-in. Eligible people interested in making an appointment can do so by calling 507-454-3650 or by clicking here. Schultz says they will receive 600 doses of the Pfizer vaccine. She said however many doses are leftover from Wednesday’s appointment clinic will be used for Friday’s clinic.
