Hazaribag: Police on Saturday said filed FIRs against 29 people and arrested four teachers of different coaching centres for allegedly instigating hundreds of students to stage several hours-long demonstrations at Korrah Chowk and Hazaribag zila parishad chowk on Friday and demand the reopening of the institutes in the city. SDPO (Hazaribag sadar) Vidya Bhushan Kumar said the FIRs were lodged under sections 188 and 234 of the Disaster Management Act and different sections of the IPC at the Hazaribag sadar and Korrah police stations. Among the arrested teachers, two have been identified as Rajesh Prasad and Mahesh Mandal. Kumar further said police had used drones and cameras to identify the men who allegedly instigated the students on Friday. ....
Hazaribag: Defying a ban imposed by the state government on public gatherings and religious processions in the state, a few akharas in Hazaribag on Tuesday took out the first mangalwari julus (pre-Ramnavami processions held on Tuesdays) ahead of Ramnavami on April 21. On being informed, the police team under SDO (sadar) Vidya Bhushan Kumar and SDPO (headquarters) Mahesh Prajapati visited the busy Jhanda Chowk where the congregation of akharas took place for taking out a procession. Traditionally, the procession marks beginning of Ramnavami from the traditional Bara Akhara Mandir in the Boddom Bazar locality. On seeing police, the crowd shouted slogans and protested for stopping their procession. ....
Hazaribag: Following several deaths due to kerosene blasts in Hazaribag, the district administration on Tuesday set up a testing laboratory at the collectorate building for speedy examination of kerosene samples. Since February, at least six persons have died in kerosene blasts in different villages under sadar block and over a dozen have received serious injuries. In the latest such incident, a 40-year-old woman died on Sunday night. Hazaribag SDO (Sadar) Vidya Bhushan Kumar said that earlier they were sending the samples to Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) lab in Khunti but the process was time-consuming. Hence, the IOCL was requested to provide a mobile van for testing in the district. ....
Hazaribag: A team headed by state food and civil supplies department joint secretary Shantanu Agrahari visited Hazaribag on Wednesday to meet the affected families after reports of kerosene explosion surfaced from a few homes in the district. According to reports, at least two people have died and more than a dozen got injured in the last few days. Meanwhile, the Hazaribag district administration has stopped the sale of kerosene oil from public distribution shops (PDS). Kerosene blasts were reported from Sarauni, Khurd, Dumar, Chutiaro, Amnari and Silwar villagers under the Sadar block. A two-year-old girl was among the dead. Kedar Ram, the father of the girl, said: “On the evening of February 14, my wife lighted a dibri after pouring kerosene in it but it soon blew up. Both my wife and daughter sustained severe burn injuries.
