Senate Majority Leader Kimberly Lightford said the “culturally responsive teaching and learning standards” underlying the bill she sponsored are “about creating a learning environment in which students from all different backgrounds feel included and engaged.” But southern Illinois Republican Sen. George Blanda, quarterback/kicker (1949 12th round) Blanda spent the first 10 seasons of his NFL record 26-year career with the Bears from 1949-58. He exited as the franchise s all-time leading scorer with 541 points, but now ranks fifth. Blanda was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1981. Joe Fortunato, linebacker (1952 seventh round) Fortunato was voted to five Pro Bowls in 12 seasons with the Bears from 1955-66 and was named to the NFL s All-Decade Team for the 1950s. In an experiment conducted by behavioral marketing professionals Oleg Urminsky and Abigail Bergman, 77 percent of participants surveyed said they d prefer to go to a hospital that required employee vaccinations over one that only recommended them. However, participants also underestimated how many people had the same preference, estimating that only 64 percent of the public would choose a hospital that requires employees vaccinations. ....
A group of Black state lawmakers praised Gov. J.B. Pritzker on Monday for signing legislation aimed at addressing racial inequities in education, from early childhood through college, even as other legislators questioned the first-term Democratâs commitment to adequately funding schools statewide.
