Warning for people not showing up for NHS appointments

PEOPLE missing hospital appointments at Royal Berkshire Hospital are being warned there could be “serious consequences” if they have a medical condition which goes untreated.
Hospital bosses are now trying to reassure people that it is safe to attend appointments and staff are not just treating Covid-19 patients.
Nicky Lloyd, acting chief executive of Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, said “very strict infection control policies” are in place, including a deep cleaning regime, a one-way system, and social distancing in waiting rooms. ....

PATIENTS leaving hospital as Covid infection rates rise could end up recovering in a Reading hotel.
In December, Reading Borough Council (RBC) took the decision to support the Berkshire West Health and Social Care System by creating a facility at Holiday Inn Reading South for those who have recently been discharged from hospital.
At the hotel, patients can experience prompt, safe discharges from hospital in order to free up as many NHS beds as possible to ease the pressure of the healthcare system. ....
