Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company is back…to the future, back to welcoming patrons into its home in Penn Quarter, and back to the magic of live performance, while acknowledging a new future must be built for a more equitable and sustainable industry. The 2021-2022 season will start to build that future in the here and now by programming previously announced projects, producing a live version of a hit streaming show, and launching a national tour.

Dorset Theatre Festival to open with comedy 'Laughing Wild'

DORSET — Dorset Theatre Festival’s 44th season opens July 9 with a revival of Christopher Durang’s comedy “Laughing Wild” outdoors at the Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester. Directed by the Festival’s resident artist, Jade King Carroll, the play will star Dan Butler (“Frasier”), who starred in the Festival’s 2019 hit “Slow Food,” and five-time Festival performer and 2020 Drama Desk Award-winner Mary Bacon (“Coal Country,” Dorset’s “Mrs. Christie”).
“Laughing Wild” is a hilarious blast-from-the-1980s comedy by Christopher Durang, whom the New Yorker called “one of the funniest men in the world.” The play, in three parts, stars a man and a woman struggling to cope with life in modern America. Over the course of two monologues and a chance meeting inside of a dream, the characters take on everything from the supermar ....

Asian American & Pacific Islander Community Conversation To Be Hosted By Perseverance Theatre

To celebrate Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Perseverance Theatre is hosting a Community Conversation led by Artistic Director, Leslie Ishii, on May 26 at 6 p.m. AKDT. Additional panelists include Adriana Li, Dennis Arashiro, and Edric Carrillo.
The event is free and open to the public and will be live-streamed to Perseverance Theatre s Facebook and YouTube. A link will also be posted on the webpage, ptalaska.org.
Adriana Li is a Program Coordinator and Instructor of IMPACT and IMPACT: Ability programs, since 2017. She has worked at Triangle, Inc. since January 2017, serving adults with disabilities to focus on advocacy and independence in the workplace. The Sundance Institute named on Monday the artists and projects for the first group of its upcoming summer labs. The group includes 12 fellows for the directors and screenwriters labs and nine artists participating in the Native and Indigenous lab which focuses on the development of storytellers from those backgrounds through feature film, episodic work and other pursuits. One artist will participate in both labs.
Elements of this year’s labs will take place digitally via Sundance Collab. ....
