K-pop superstars and Grammy nominee BTS added another record for their new digital single “Butter.”
Music streaming app Spotify announced that “Butter” rewrote Spotify history by achieving the highest streams in a single day last May 21, the date the song was released.
“On May 21, #BTS Butter broke the record for most-streamed song in a day in Spotify history #SpotifyCharts,” Spotify Charts posted on Twitter but did not disclose the numbers.
Korean media reported on May 23, based on a press statement by Big Hit Music, that according to Spotify, “Butter” earned 20.9 million global streams on the first day of release on May 21, which is the biggest number of global streams per day in Spotify’s history. This is 66 percent higher than the 12.6 million global streams record set by BTS’ “Dynamite” last year.

K-pop idol group and Grammy nominee BTS made a clean sweep at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs).
BTS won in all the four categories that they were nominated in: Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Social Artist (Fan Voted) and Top Selling Song for “Dynamite.”
The Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist and Top Social Artist (Fan Voted) were announced ahead of the BBMAs live ceremony while Top Selling Song was announced during the show, which started at 8 p.m. ET on May 23 (8 a.m. on May 24 in the Philippines).
The 2021 Billboard Music Awards kicked off with a fun-filled live performance by DJ Khaled, who was joined by H.E.R. and Migos to sing their hit We re Going Crazy.
Unlike many of the performances over the past year and a half, the artists performed in front of actual fans outside of the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles, in what was likely one of the largest live crowds in months.
Host Nick Jonas revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last week that there will be between 500 and 600 fans in attendance, who were treated to the performance by Khaled, H.E.R. and Migos first on Sunday afternoon.
