BRADFORD is the most affordable place in England for first-time buyers, according to new figures. The data shows people buying in the city need just over 14 per cent of their income to afford a house there. It is based on the average monthly mortgage payment as a percentage of a person s income - this is on the premise of a 10 per cent deposit with a mortgage term of 30 years at three per cent interest. The average property price in Bradford is £145, 981, while the average annual salary is £28,790, according to the study. This means the average monthly mortgage repayment takes up 14.3 per cent of an individual s take home pay - the lowest in the country.
