The Philippines is expected to receive close to 200,000 doses of Moderna vaccines from the United States by the middle of June while the deliveries for the bulk of the 20 million doses may happen in July onwards until the end of the year, Philippine Ambassador to Washington Jose Manuel Romualdez said on Tuesday.

“One thing for sure, Moderna confirmed to us that the vaccine we ordered from them will (be delivered) starting June 15, and that is the target date. It would start increasing in the succeeding months of July, August, and September up to the end of the year. They will complete the 20 million up to the end of the year,” Romualdez said in a pre-recorded interview with the Malacañang press corps. ....

The Philippines is expecting to doses of Pfizer and Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccines in May and June respectively, Manila’s Ambassador to Washington Jose Manuel Romualdez said Tuesday.
At a Palace news conference, Romualdez said the initial 117,000 doses of Pfizer’s vaccine would most likely be coming next month.”
Close to 200,000 doses of Moderna’s vaccine, meanwhile, will be delivered to the Philippines in June, he said.
“I think they’re quite confident that they will be able to [ensure] the delivery of our vaccines starting June 15. And then, it will start increasing in succeeding months, July, August, September up to the end of the year. They will complete the 20 million [doses] before the end of the year,” Romualdez said. ....

The United States is waiting for the Philippines to seek its assistance over Chinese vessels massing in the West Philippine Sea, Manila’s Ambassador to Washington Jose Manuel Romualdez said Tuesday.
Romualdez did not give specific details, but he took note of the correspondence between the defense departments of the two countries and the deployment of an aircraft carrier strike group to the South China Sea, a portion of which is being claimed by the Philippines.
The Philippines has repeatedly asked China to withdraw its vessels seen moored at Julian Felipe Reef even as Beijing insisted sovereignty over the area. ....

The United States, through USAID Manila, has donated P170 million or $3.5 million to help in the Philippines immunization program against the coronavirus disease, the US Embassy said Thursday.
