Age UK Somerset charity competition turns up hilarious limericks

LIMERICKS: From Age UK volunteers who are making calls by phone instead of in person
SOMERSET folk put their rhythmic bones into action for a competition.
As part of Volunteers’ Week this year, which ran from June 1 to 7, the Somerset branch of charity Age UK ran a competition for volunteers, asking them to compose limericks featuring volunteering and/or Somerset and North Somerset.
More than 40 entries were received and thanks to donations from Marks and Spencer’s, Taunton, all those who took part received a prize.

Woman's Captain Tom 100 Challenge raises money for Age UK Somerset

From April 30 until May 3, Kate Barrington, from Spaxton, drew 124 animals for Age UK Somerset.
She took part in the Captain Tom 100 Challenge, which encouraged people in the UK and around the world raise money for the Captain Tom Foundation or a charity of their choice.
Ms Barrington, who is the communications and volunteering manager for Age UK Somerset, managed to raise more than £500 for the charity.
She took requests from people who sponsored her and she managed to draw many animals, anything from an Aardvark to a Zebu.
“I am not very good at drawing and the challenge took three days, a lot longer than I thought it would, she said. ....
