TÜBINGEN. Braucht es in Tübingen eine Innenstadtstrecke der Regionalstadtbahn? Darüber gehen die Meinungen in der Unistadt weit auseinander. Auch im Gemeinderat: Dort ist die Mehrheit für die Innenstadtstrecke, die Tübinger Liste und die Linken sind nicht überzeugt. Die Entscheidung fällt in einem Bürgerentscheid am Tag der Bundestagswahl am 26. September. Die Stadtverwaltung hat früh auf die Diskussionen um die Innenstadtstrecke reagiert und nach einem Alternativenworkshop im November 2018 zwei Planungsbüros mit der Prüfung von Alternativen beauftragt. Nach einem Zwischenbericht im Oktober 2020 haben die Planer am Mittwochabend die Endergebnisse ihrer Untersuchung präsentiert. ....

No new tax imposed as KMC approves budget of Rs26 billion

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has approved a budget of Rs25,982.414 million for the next financial year with a surplus of Rs11.947 million, as the expenditures are
estimated at Rs25,970.467 million.
Karachi Administrator Laeeq Ahmed on Tuesday approved the budget using the powers of the city council under the notification of the Sindh government. No new tax has been imposed. The administrator said that for the next financial year, priority was given to those development schemes which were in the interest of the public. “Non-development schemes are kept to a minimum; new and ongoing projects of roads, gardens, playgrounds and sports complexes have been added to improve the infrastructure of Karachi.” ....

Rs6.5bn earmarked for procuring electric buses for Karachi

The Sindh government has reserved an allocation of Rs6.5 billion in its new budget for the financial year 2021-22 for buying electric buses for Karachi.
In his budget speech on Tuesday, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said a modern city required a modern transportation system. “Unfortunately, Karachi has still to call home a planned mass-transportation system,” he said.
“We can engage in a never-ending blame game. But we will not waste our time. Previously, we have unrolled multiple mass-transit programmes for Karachi and now we will intensify these programmes,” the CM said.
He said the Annual Development Programme of the Sindh government for the next financial year contained an allocation Rs8.2 billion for constructing the corridors of Bus Rapid Transit Service in the city. ....
