STREATOR – Live Well Streator has been awarded an environmental grant from Illinois American Water for their Streator Parks Placemaking Project. The organization will receive just over $4,000 and will be used to replace two water fountains in Streator. The new water fountains will be bi‐level and will include a bottle filling station and pet hydration station. Educational signage explaining plastic waste will also be installed. The environmental grant is from a share of funds for community projects that improve, restore or protect watersheds. Elsah among recipients of Illinois American Water environmental grants FacebookTwitterEmail The village of Elsah in the spring.File photo ELSAH The village of Elsah will receive a environmental grant in the amount of its full request from Illinois American Water (IAW), which overall awarded eight environmental grants focused on watershed initiatives across the state. Timed in celebration of Earth Day, April 22, the environmental grant recipients will receive a share of funds totaling $29,860 for community projects that improve, restore or protect watersheds. The village of Elsah will receive $3,275 to be used to create a public space that incorporates wetland restoration, stream preservation and native plantings. Live Well Streator is planning a drive-thru disposal at Streator City Park from 10 AM – 1 PM. You can drop off your unwanted or expired prescription and over-the-counter drugs, but they do ask that labels be removed from packages or personal information be blacked out. Flushing medication down the toilet contributes to pollution, so it is advised that you participate if you have medication to dispose of. Local Weather ....
