‘Neo JMB’ man who attempted to visit Syria held in Dhaka: Police Star Online Report Star Online Report Counter Terrorism officials claimed to have arrested member of militant group Neo JMB , who attempted to go to Syria but returned home from Turkey recently, from Dhaka s Darussalam area yesterday. Minhaz Hossain, 38, was an active member of the militant outfit. He was captured around 6:30pm while meeting other operatives at Konabari area to plan an act of sabotage, Walid Hossain, deputy commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said. He had communicated with members of international militant group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), officials of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit said. ....

The arrestees were identified as Belal Khan, Rakib Khan Titul, A Hannan, Delowar Hossain, ‘Sohag’ and Md Khorshed Alam. The law enforcers recovered mobile phones and SIM cards which were used to extort people along with some documents during the raids, Deputy Police Commissioner Walid Hossain said at a media briefing on Saturday. ....

Documents, firearms, bullets, mouldy clothes and shoes, human bones and drugs were strewn across the storeroom, widely known as a maalkhana, at Kushtia Model Police Station. All these are important pieces of evidence collected in various cases filed with the police station. Insects were buzzing inside the room, which remains closed most of the time and smelled. We do not have proper facilities to preserve the evidence and there are chances of those getting damaged, said Kamruzzaman Talukdar, officer-in-charge of the police station, adding that he contacted the higher authorities for special arrangements to preserve the evidence. ....
