Year in Review: Murder cases, jury trial delays headline 2020 court cases

Both Warren and Shenandoah counties had murder cases in court in 2020 that have been delayed by the pandemic. At the start of the year, Front Royal residents Richard Crouch and George Good were charged in the murder of 20-year-old Warren County resident Tristen Brinklow. Crouch and Good are accused of assaulting and tying up Brinklow in September 2019 and placing his body in a refrigerator, which was discovered on Dec. 2 at Digs Landing. They are charged with willfully defiling a body, concealing a dead body, abduction by force/intimidation and first-degree murder. Good is also accused of shooting a man during an assault attempt in Front Royal in November 2019.

Driver convicted in police pursuit

The driver in an up to 100 mph, multi-county chase who drove the wrong way on a highway ramp and struck two state police cruisers on June 13 has admitted guilt. In a plea bargain on Tuesday in Frederick County Circuit Court, Bryan Douglas Walters pleaded guilty to eluding police. A driving with a suspended license charge was dropped as part of the agreement. The agreement also calls for Walters to be sentenced in Warren County Circuit Court at 9 a.m. on Jan. 15. Walters, 34, of the 600 block of West Main Street in Luray, faces an eluding charge and two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer in Warren County.

10-year sentence for suspect in Audrain killing Published by admin on Thu, 12/17/2020 - 11:47pm Dekhise Dorsey A Warren County judge overseeing a manslaughter case from Audrain County has sentenced the suspect to 10 years in prison. Dekhise E. Dorsey, 19, of Mexico, was sentenced last week after pleading guilty Sept. 9 to first-degree involuntary manslaughter. Dorsey was charged in the February 2019 shooting death of Ta’Juan Williams, 27, in Mexico. The case was transferred to Warren County Circuit Court in June 2019. Associate Judge Michael Wright oversaw Dorsey’s case after it was moved to Warren County. He delivered the sentence on Dec. 11. Dorsey will receive credit for the nearly two years he’s already spent in jail.
