Summer school helps students catch up after disrupted year due to COVID-19 pandemic SAN ANTONIO – School districts in San Antonio are trying to get students back on track by opening more campuses for summer school. “Teachers are really going to be working on trying to determine where these students really are and working to get them up to at least that foundation level of whatever class that student is in for that year, whatever the grade level is,” said Warren High School Principal Valerie Sisk. Over 500 students are registered for summer school at Warren High School. “We’ve had about 270 students already complete some credit, some form of credit. Tomorrow’s our last day of the first summer session. And Monday we start the second summer session,” Sisk said. ....

The softball queens of the San Gabriel Valley League since the 2014 seasons will not hold that title in 2021 as Gahr High will not call itself league champions. The Lady Gladiators, who entered this season having won 56 of 59 league contests over the previous six seasons, fell to Warren High 7-5 this past Tuesday, costing them a chance of potentially going into the CIF-Southern Section playoffs as tri-league champions. Gahr needed to win its last two games of the regular season (it visited Paramount High on May 27) and have Warren defeat Downey High, also on May 27, to finish in a three-way tie. ....

[email protected] I’ve gone back to school recently. Warren High School to be specific. I am working on a book to be published this fall on the history of Warren High School and it was time to capture some photos of the 60-year-old building before it is gone. It will be gone by late June, replaced by a wonderful new structure under construction just south of the sprawling series of buildings that sit on a hilltop in Barlow. Some of the classrooms have started to fill with boxes as teachers prepare for the move. The boxes will be loaded on pallets and be moved to the end building containing the gymnasium and auditorium. That building will be part of the new Warren and will serve as a storage area for items that are being transferred to the new school. ....
