An attempt to postpone the deadline for submissions on the draft Louth County Development until the end of March, has failed.
If adopted as it currently stands, it would significantly restrict one off rural housing.
Fianna Fáil Councillor Andrea McKevitt had tabled a notice of motion on the issue at the local authority’s monthly meeting this morning, – saying in light of the Covid-19 restrictions it was aimed at giving citizens in Louth the right to meet and discuss the impacts of the new proposals.

Local Senator Erin McGreehan has criticised restrictions on one-off rural housing in the draft Louth County Development Plan.
The Fianna Fáil Senator says if the current proposal is adopted, it would depopulate the north Louth area, which she claims in the long term will end up closing schools and football clubs
Speaking in the Seanad yesterday, Senator McGreehan urged the public to make written submissions before the deadline at 12pm on Wednesday December 23rd.
