Most of the area was able to successfully maintain minimum chlorine levels, except a portion of the Chacon Neighborhood. Due to failure to maintain acceptable disinfection (Total Chlorine) residuals within certain areas of the distribution system, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the City of Laredo / PWS ID # 2400001 public water system to notify all customers located within the Chacon neighborhood on the map below that they are under a boil water notice. The affected area is between South Meadow Avenue and South Buena Vista Avenue and between Gates Street and Willow Street. ....
Laredo extends boil water notice across entire city July 4, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail Laredo’s struggles with its water safety have continued with the news on Sunday afternoon that the entire city is under a boil water notice. The city announced that the measure was taken as a precautionary measure, as is required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. “High temperatures, along with low rain fall, affect chlorine residuals by aging the water and making it become stagnant in lines that are part of the water system,” said the city in a release. Due to the city-wide occurrence, utility crews are working around the area and have placed automatic flushing devices. ....
