Most new infections are in Sofia-city - 267, followed by Varna - 74 and Burgas – 67. The number of active cases currently stands at 68,977. There are 10,649 people being treated in hospital as 747 patients are in intensive care wards. The death toll for the past 24 hours reached 82. The number of recoveries was 858. The overall number of vaccinations has reached 503,570. A total of 1,492 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. There are 100,887 people who have received both doses. ....

According to an order by Bogdan Kirilov, director of the Bulgarian Medicines Agency from 12 March, all quantities of the Covid-19 vaccine manufactured by AstraZeneca are being blocked in this country. The process of vaccination will continue when the final results of the expert analyses are known, the Ministry of Health press service has reported. ....

In-person classes in universities will be suspended, too. Extracurricular activities will be held online. All restaurants and catering establishments will be open until 22.00 pm, BTA reports, referring to information of the Sofia Operational Headquarters. The authorities recommend that employers organize conditions for remote work or work shifts where possible. Organized excursions, festivals and fairs, as well as outdoor gatherings of a large number of people will be prohibited. Sofia has crossed the threshold of 500 new cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 people. The average age of people with Covid-19 infection fell to 51 years, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova said. ....

However, 45% of them are not planning to receive vaccines, indicates an online survey of the Bulgarian Union of Teachers and the Association of Directors in Secondary Education in Bulgaria conducted among more than 13,000 pedagogues between February 9 and 13. More than 47% of the teachers who are unwilling to receive vaccines are worried about possible side effects of the vaccines. 44% of the respondents say they do not have reliable information about the effect of the vaccines, BNR’s reporter Andrey Borisov informs. ....
