A very dangerous and life threatening storm surge will raise water levels by as much as 6 to 12 feet above normal tide levels in the Central Bahamas. A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the Central Bahamas and the Northwestern Bahamas including: the Abacos, the Berry Islands, Eleuthera, Grand Bahama, New Providence, and Acklins, Crooked Island, and Mayaguana in the Southeast Bahamas. ....

Dear Editor, I read with concern a report in the paper this week about a foreign investor seeking a default judgement against former Sky Bahamas CEO Randy Butler. Don’t get me wrong, if the investor has been wronged in the collapse of the airline, he should recover what he is owed. But what about the workers? What about the 40 Sky employees who are collectively owed nearly three quarters of a million dollars? We worked for months without pay only to be dismissed without any severance. Many of us are suffering. We have children to feed, school bills to pay, mortgages hanging over our heads. Some who lived on Abaco or Grand Bahama were severely impacted by Hurricane Dorian and were just trying to get back on their feet when calamity struck. ....

NASSAU, BAHAMAS Former Sky Bahamas financier Fred Kaiser is seeking a default judgement against the airline’s former chief executive, Randy Butler, over an alleged $28 million “bogus loans” scheme. According to court documents, on Monday, Kaiser’s attorneys filed a judgement in default of defense against the claims leveled against him in a writ filed last November. That writ listed Kaiser’s companies, Alpha Aviation Ltd and Advanced Aviation Ltd, as the first and second plaintiffs. Butler, Sky Bahamas Airlines Limited and Aviation Oversight Group Ltd were listed as defendants. Former Deputy Prime Minister Peter Turnquest, while not listed as a defendant, was a director and manager of Alpha Aviation Ltd and Advanced Aviation Ltd while Sky Bahamas and Aviation Oversight were at all material times owned, controlled and/or managed by Butler, according to court documents. ....
