Media 'gushing' over 'beloved' Joe Biden amid G7 Summit

The media has been “gushing” over their beloved Joe Biden amid the G7 summit – but the same newsrooms didn’t offer such “light and positive coverage” when it was Donald Trump, says Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton.

According to CNN, US President Joe Biden is “stepping onto the world stage for the first time as president – an equal to foreign leaders”.

Yet when Donald Trump attended the G7, CNN reported it as “G6 versus one”.

Mr Houghton said CNN portrayed Joe Biden’s attendance as “momentous” and was “trying to give the illusion that he doesn’t have any disputes” with any of the other national leaders.

The Menzies Research Centre’s Nick Cater noted there are “considerable question marks” over Biden’s foreign affairs policy.

“But it was the one area in fact in which Donald Trump did very well,” he said.

Parliamentary inquiry into media diversity is 'a sham'

Parliamentary inquiry into media diversity is ‘a sham’16/04/2021|4min
Sky News contributor Gemma Tognini says the parliamentary inquiry into media diversity in Australia is a “waste of taxpayers’ money”.
Former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull at the Senate inquiry on Monday took advantage of parliamentary privilege to compare journalists to terrorists, torturers and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
“It’s not supported by any sort of fact,” Ms Tognini told Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton.
“The coverage of Mr Turnbull’s comments to this inquiry for the most part lacked any kind of analysis, any testing, it was really a regurgitation rather than what kind of basis does make one such an extraordinary claim”. ....

ABC should be 'advocating' for nuclear energy | Sky News Australia

There is a “nefarious push” from the left to demonise nuclear energy, according to Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton.

It comes as the ABC suggested the Fukushima nuclear accident “killed thousands of people” on the tenth anniversary of the tragedy, according to Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

“How dishonest or misleading or plain ignorant was that; 18,000 lives lost, after the world's worst nuclear disaster since Chernobyl. Do you know how many of those lies were lost to radiation from Fukushima, rather than the earthquake or tsunami? Exactly zero. Not one,” Mr Bolt said.

Mr Houghton said he hoped the story was just a case of “shoddy journalism” from the taxpayer funded national broadcaster.

“I’m not 100 per cent sure, because there is this nefarious push among the left to really demonise nuclear energy,” he said.

The ABC should be “advocating” for nuclear energy given its “obsession with pushing those climate policies ....

Piers Morgan was the only thing 'remotely interesting' about Good Morning Britain

If Piers Morgan was fired from Good Morning Britain, then it was a “terrible mistake” given the provocative television personality was the only thing “remotely interesting” about the show, according to Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton.

Mr Morgan quit his role as host of popular British breakfast program Good Morning Britain after controversial comments he made about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Discussing whether he walked or was pushed, Mr Houghton said it would have been a “terrible mistake” if Mr Morgan was fired.

“For him to be missing, I mean he was the show,” Mr Houghton told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

“He may have been polarising, but if they did actually walk him and they’re trying to dress it up as his resignation from some agreement, I think they’ve made a mistake”.

“I think the more likely scenario is he’s had enough of being berated by the woke crew that he’s surrounded by, and he’s going off to some ....

Disney hypocrisy is 'stomach churning' | Sky News Australia

Disney's hypocrisy is "stomach churning" after it slaps warnings on episodes of The Muppet Show, but films scenes for Mulan where China commits “horrific tragedies” against the Uighurs, says Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton.

The streaming services now has a ten second content warning before 18 episodes of The Muppet Show which says “this program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures”.

“These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now,” the warning said.

“Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together," it said.

Disney has recently come under fire for filming scenes of Mulan in Xinjiang province in northwest China where the Chinese communist government has interned the Uighur minority in ‘re-education camps’.

The US government has declared the violence against the Ui ....
