Construction of first building begins on new £5bn North London town centre RED Construction Group has begun construction of the first building of the new £5bn Brent Cross Town development in North London. RED Construction was appointed by Argent Related and Barnet Council to deliver Brent Cross Town’s temporary Visitor Pavilion and begun work in late December. The 743m 2, three-storey, temporary visitor centre on Claremont Way in Brent Cross is to showcase Brent Cross Town’s masterplan and vision. It is expected to be open to visitors by the end of 2021. Designed by Moxon Architects, the building will communicate the ambitious scale of Brent Cross Town, which will become a new park town for London and will establish a new standard for large-scale urban regeneration. ....

The pavilion will feature a timber-clad facade The contractor said the Moxon Architects-designed building, which is due to open to visitors by the end of this year, will be built with a cross-laminated timber superstructure with a timber-clad facade. It will include an exhibition space, commercial space on the ground floor and further space for community use. ....

(Brent Cross Town) Related Companies made a big bet on the “city within a city” concept in New York with its Hudson Yards megaproject and now it’s trying something even more ambitious in London. The firm has partnered with Argent, a developer in the U.K., to build a so-called “15-minute city,” according to the Wall Street Journal. The joint venture of Argent Related is calling the project Brent Cross Town. The 180-acre site that’s more than six times the size of Hudson Yards will have some 6,700 homes, along with 3 million square feet of office space, 50 acres of parkland and other amenities. The project, located about eight miles from central London, will also get a new train station in 2022 to ferry commuters into the city. ....

After graduating from the Bartlett and completing confidence-building stints at Squire & Partners, Studio Cullinan and Buck, and Consarc Architects, Hagos set up Freehaus as a platform to deliver ‘inclusive projects that encourage positive societal change’. The practice’s breakthroughs have included winning a competition for the RIBA’s showcase trade stand at Ecobuild and being chosen for the high-profile RIBA Regent Street Windows programme. ....
Ferry Lane Primary School pupil Samuel won a prize for his artwork An online auction helped raise more than 1,300 for a primary school to kit out a new art room. Ferry Lane School in Tottenham teamed up with the developers of the Tottenham Hale regeneration last month for a creative and charitable project. Twenty pieces of art were created by employees at developer Argent Related, as well as architects also working on the Tottenham Hale scheme. The artworks varied in style, from traditional landscapes to abstract works, with many of the team opting to portray different interpretations of London landmark King’s Cross, a 67-acre site redeveloped by Argent, as well as the Tottenham Hale site. ....
