Four children and three adults were able to escape a burning King Court, Waterville home early this morning, Jan. 11. They climbed out of a back window to escape from the blaze.

Fire departments respond to morning fire in Maine

Multiple area fire departments respond to fire in Waterville Thursday morning

WATERVILLE, Maine Fire departments from Waterville, Winslow, Skowhegan, and Oakland responded to the scene of a fire at 105 Kennedy Memorial Drive early Thursday morning.
Nobody was in the building at the time of the fire and there were no injuries to fire personnel.
The alarm was called in around 5:30 a.m. by a Waterville police officer who was investigating an intrusion alarm at the address. Waterville Fire Battalion Chief Rodney Alderman confirmed a working fire and requested an all-hands alarm. Shortly thereafter, due to limited personnel, a second alarm was requested which brought fire personnel and apparatus from Winslow ....

Santa delivered a Christmas Day rain storm across the state of Maine beginning Thursday evening that was expected to continue into Friday night.
Andy Pohl, a forecaster with the National Weather Service, said there would be “quite a bit of rain” still to come by midnight. Most of central Maine received a half inch to an inch Thursday night into Friday morning.
Wind gusts are not as ferocious as once thought. Instead of 50-plus mile per hour winds, they are supposed to gust in the 35 mph range.
“We’re just not getting as good a mixing as we initially expected,” Pohl said. “That’s something of a moving target, anyways.” ....

Not so treacherous Christmas storm soaks central and western Maine

Santa delivered a Christmas Day rain storm across the state of Maine beginning Thursday evening that continued into Friday night.
Most of central and western Maine received an inch to an inch-and-a-half by midday Friday, according to the National Weather Service, and another 1 to 3 inches of rain was expected through the evening.
Wind gusts were not as ferocious was initially forecasted. Instead of 50-plus mile per hour wind, gusts were expected in the 35 mph range.
