KANSAS CITY, Mo. â Juggling customers and condolences, L.C. Richardson s granddaughter, Tausha Hemmett, said a piece of him stays with her each time she rings up another customer.
For Richardson, his legacy is
his customers, who kept the phone lines busy in the days that followed his death.
âHis customers were his family,â Hemmett said âIf thereâs anything that I want anybody to take away from this, itâs (that) he loved everyone as if they were his family.â ....

KANSAS CITY, Mo. â A city that brags to the world about its iconic barbecue has lost one of its icons.
LC Richardson, the owner of
LC s Bar-B-Q, died Wednesday morning a restaurant employee told 41 Action News.
Richardson first opened the popular Kansas City, Missouri, restaurant in 1986 at 5800 Blue Parkway.
The restaurant held a special place in the stomachs of Kansas City Chiefs fans, who would often visit the restaurant on their way to Arrowhead Stadium.
Several years ago, when the Chiefs first hired head coach Andy Reid, Richardson told 41 Action News he was excited about the hire because it would change the team s fortunes, leading more fans to the game, and eventually more Chiefs fans stopping by at his restaurant. ....

Feb. 19 The smoke still fills the small dining room near the Truman Sports Complex in Kansas City. But the driving force and namesake of the legendary LC s Bar-B-Q no longer commands his post from a table inside the humble joint.
L.C. Richardson died this week at the age of 86, according to family.
It s with great sadness that I share one of KC s BBQ legends has passed away at 86 years young, his granddaughter wrote on the LC Bar-B-Q page. LC s legacy will continue through providing great Kansas City BBQ! ....
