Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy D. Sini has announced the sentencing of a Bellport man to prison in connection with a fatal motor vehicle crash in Middle Island on Feb. 9, 2019.
Nahriek Belford, 19, pleaded guilty on Feb. 11 to Assault in the First Degree, a B violent felony; two counts of Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a C felony; and Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in the First Degree, a D felony. He was sentenced by Suffolk County Acting Supreme Court Justice Fernando Camacho to eight years in prison with five years of post-release supervision. ....

“The defendant’s actions that day were unconscionable, first destroying a memorial for a 16-year-old girl then attempting to flee when confronted by a grieving mother,” District Attorney Sini said. “Today’s sentence is a just outcome that holds her accountable for her actions. ....

Suffolk DA: Southampton Man Indicted for Allegedly Leaving Scene of Crash Resulting in Death of 7-Year-Old

Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy D. Sini and Suffolk County Police Commissioner Geraldine Hart have announced the indictment of a Southampton man for allegedly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash without reporting that .
Phuoc Truong, a/k/a Philip Truong, 32, of Southampton, is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident without Reporting, a class D felony, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, an unclassified misdemeanor.
“This was an unspeakable tragedy, but we hope that the apprehension and indictment of this defendant brings some solace to the victim’s family,” District Attorney Sini said. “I commend the Police Department’s Major Case Unit and my office’s Vehicular Crime Bureau for their thorough investigation of this crash and for bringing the perpetrator to justice.” ....
