Council prepares to poll Marco Island employees, citizens Lance Shearer Correspondent Marco Island likely has some surveys in its future – but first, City Council must survey the survey firms. During the Oct, 5 City Council meeting, Councilor Greg Folley requested an “organization-wide employee engagement survey” of city staffers, plus a “follow-on action plan based on the results,” in conjunction with the city manager’s performance evaluation. Another survey requested would cover all island residents, to “measure community satisfaction with key city services” and identify opportunities for improvement. Assistant to the city manager Dr. Casey Lucius, who presented the staff’s recommendations on survey firms to the council on Monday evening, pointed out there has never been a comprehensive survey of residents done by the city. That included not only the discussion of rental properties and noise, the only agenda item that sparked any heat or conflicting viewpoints, but a raft of other business that the council dealt with. Marco Island chiefs being investigated over vaccine reservation system allegations Published: February 1, 2021 4:19 PM EST Updated: February 20, 2021 6:31 AM EST Two Marco Island chiefs have been placed on leave after accusations of accessing a vaccine reservation system. Marco Island Police Chief Tracy Frazzano and Marco Island Fire-Rescue Chief Chris Byrne have been placed on administrative leave while an investigation is completed into allegations involving access and use of the Eventbrite vaccine reservation system. According to Marco Island Assistant to the City Manager Casey Lucius, City Manager Mike McNees will continue the investigation over the next 48 hours before determining if disciplinary action is warranted. ....
