After completing a few laps with a backstroke, she grabbed a kick board. Morton has organized a âBig Swimâ for the past few years, both as a celebration of her twin brotherâs birthday and a way to raise funds for Y scholarships. MARSHALL Everything was ready as Sue Morton warmed up in a lane of the lap pool at the Marshall Area YMCA. The German database company Statista, which specializes in market and consumer data, reported that over 201 million Americans consumed doughnuts at some point in 2020. According to the question and answer website Quora, the average American eats 31 doughnuts each year, and the nation’s more than 25,000 doughnut shops make over 10 billion of the country’s favorite pastry annually. When one factors in convenience stores and grocery stores with bakeries, there are at least 30 establishments in Tazewell County to pick up a selection of doughnuts. While air-travel during the pandemic can carry additional risks, road-trips and RVs offer a safer way to explore new places and remain socially-distant. But Gray said that the biggest thing that’s underlying the trend to RVing is that people simply want a change of scenery. “[People] are sitting at home. They’ve been sitting at home for a long time doing work. I mean, even if they’re comfortable going out to places like grocery stores or to pick up food, that’s pretty different than going out and spending time out under the stars. So what we’ve seen happen is the trips have gotten longer, [because] people have more flexible time. So, the trips are extending, but they’re also happening closer to home. ” ....
