BRIDGEPORT A Stratford man is accused of assaulting a woman and shooting her boyfriend before leading police on a chase to Milford Sunday afternoon.
William Santiago, 23, was charged with first-degree assault, criminal use of a weapon, illegal discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, carrying a pistol without a permit, interfering with police and reckless driving.
During Santiago’s arraignment hearing on Monday Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Nicholas Bove urged Superior Court Judge Kevin Doyle to set a high bond, pointing out that Santiago has an extensive criminal history.

BRIDGEPORT A local man free on bond and awaiting trials in three state courthouses was arrested again Tuesday following an alleged struggle with police.
Shakeil Fautner, 26, of Iranistan Avenue, was charged with interfering with police, criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a permit, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and breach of peace.
“He is a one-man crime wave,” Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Nicholas Bove said during Fautner’s arraignment Wednesday afternoon. He urged Superior Court Judge Peter McShane to set a high bond.

BRIDGEPORT James McClain was flush with cash and allegedly eager to buy drugs, according to police.
Laquan Victoria was fresh out of prison with a folding knife in his pocket, they said.
On Friday, the 33-year-old Victoria was charged with felony murder, murder and first-degree robbery for the death of the 58-year-old McClain, found stabbed near Went Field on March 19.
“This is a very serious case and the defendant has a serious prior criminal record,” Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Nicholas Bove said Friday afternoon as Victoria watched the court proceeding via video, his arms resting on the bar of his cell in the courthouse lockup.
