Two young Hawke s Bay cricket players banned for the season after complaints of racist and homophobic sledging are back on the field after their punishment was appealed.
In February, the teenage sons of Hawke s Bay Cricket chief executive Craig Findlay and Napier Tech s club manager Mike Pawson were banned for the season, which still has several weeks to run in Hawke s Bay.
However, the ban has been reduced after an appeal was made this past week. ....

NZ Cricket backs 10-week ban for schoolboy cricketers for 'racist and homophobic abuse'


He suspended the two players until the end of the 2020-21 season, effectively a ban of 10 weeks, including the three-week stand down already served.
HBCA did not name the players, but Stuff understands the pair are the sons of former Central Districts players Craig Findlay and Mike Pawson. Findlay is also chief executive of HBCA.
In a statement, NZ Cricket public affairs manager Richard Boock said: ”NZC is satisfied with the integrity of both the process and outcome of the Hawke’s Bay code of conduct hearing.
“We endorse the findings of the commissioner and agree that the type of offending described required a serious response.” ....

Two Hawke s Bay players at the centre of a complaint that alleged racist, homophobic and sexist comments were made in a secondary school cricket match have been banned for the season.
The players are sons of Hawke s Bay Cricket chief executive Craig Findlay and Mike Pawson, Napier Tech s club manager.
The ban takes into account that the players have been stood down for three weeks already, and totals 10 weeks.
The two players had turned out for a Napier Technical Old Boys Year 11 to 13 side against a Western Districts Auckland Blue XI in a Twenty20 game on January 21. ....
