Bay County Lynn Haven mayoral candidate Ellyne Fields arrested in 2017

According to the report, the 61-year-old former school principal, who is now set in a runoff election Tuesday, had been arrested for domestic violence against her husband about four years ago. The report described Fields in an irate state, having “intentionally hit” her husband, Francis Fields, and “picked the computer up and threw it outside, breaking it some more.” She also was charged with malicious mischief.   The incident happened in Spokane, Washington. In an interview Saturday, Fields called the police report “one-sided” and said the incident resulted from “me trying to safely remove myself from my medication that I felt was doing me more harm than good.”

Lynn Haven Voters To Choose Next Mayor In Special Runoff Election

/ Lynn Haven voters may cast their ballot in the special runoff elections for mayor and city commissioner at the town s Senior Center on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. Lynn Haven voters are electing their next mayor Tuesday almost a year after former mayor Margo Anderson stepped down following her arrest on public corruption charges. Bay County Elections Supervisor Mark Andersen says no candidate in last month’s mayoral and city commission races got enough votes to win outright triggering three runoff elections: one for mayor and two for city commissioner seats. The Lynn Haven City Commission has governed with one vacant seat for nearly a year. That will change after the polls close Tuesday evening, when the commission will have at least two new members and possibly a third if City Commissioner Judy Tinder loses her seat. That will give the town a full, five-member commission.

Bay County Florida special election to see little impact from new law

One immediate change the Bay County Supervisor of Elections Office made was removing the exterior drop box where early voters would typically drop in their ballots.   “The outside one, I’d have to have two people in security on it,” Supervisor of Elections Mark Andersen said. According to the bill, SOE offices could be fined $25,000 if drop boxes are left unattended.   Anderson added since it is a municipal election but not county-wide, “it doesn’t impact (Lynn Haven voters) on the side of voting because we have drop boxes inside the voting places.”   Lynn Haven voters on May 18 will select their candidates for mayor, Seat 3 and Seat 4 in a runoff election between the top two candidates in each race. Early voting started Monday and ends Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the Lynn Haven Senior Center, 905 Pennsylvania Ave.

Bay County elections: voter turnout light on Tuesday

Local political positions competing for election included Lynn Haven mayor, Lynn Haven commissioner seats 3 and 4, Panama City commissioner Ward 4, Parker mayor and Parker Council seats 1 and 3.  Positions running unopposed were Mexico Beach mayor, Mexico Beach Council groups 2 and 3, Panama City mayor and Panama City commissioner Ward 1.  For Panama City s Hope Abbott, the school board referendum to raise millage rates would help the local education system be more competitive, attracting additional people to the area and boosting the local economy.  We re not paying our teachers enough, (and) we ve got to be able to attract good talent and maintain what we do have, Abbott said.  If you can afford to pay the high educated teachers, then our rating will go up. If you re not paying them (enough), they re not going to stay in Bay County.
