Panama City Welcome Wall mural sees 'Bird of paradise' update

PANAMA CITY Amid the images of animals and fantasy creatures, artist Olga Guy has decided to add the beauty of flowers to the ongoing Welcome Wall mural in downtown Panama City.
Guy originally planned to paint a fish image, possibly to match a series she has been working on for her upcoming solo show at the Center for the Arts in June. However, fellow Welcome Wall mural artist Joyful Enriquez s design focused on marine life, and Paul Brent s design was a seascape with a pelican, so Guy tried to come up with something different.
I thought I would paint some fish, because that s mainly what I paint, she said. I m going to be painting a flower. Putting my work next to Mr. Paul Brent and these awesome guys, it s an honor, really. ....

The Bay County Public Library will display the “Downtown Through the Years” photography exhibit throughout the month.
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A local library is shining light on the history of downtown Panama City.
The Bay County Public Library will display the “Downtown Through the Years” photography exhibit throughout the month.
The photographs highlight Harrison Avenue and downtown Panama City beginning in the early 1900s.
The show is organized by the library’s local history department, which preserves print materials, artifacts, and photographs. ....

PANAMA CITY It s not unusual for patrons of the Lie brary on Beck to ask if they can check out books there or, for that matter, trade or buy them.
That seems like a reasonable question, considering the lounge s name as well as the presence of hundreds of vintage books on the shelves that run along the northern wall and behind the bar.
Every day, we post a book photo on Instagram, and the first to find it and present it to the bartender gets their first drink on us, said Jake Navarro, the marketing and events director for the Lie brary, 1123 Beck Ave., in historic St. Andrews. ....
