BAD AXE, MI The Huron County sheriff is reminding people to stay off increasingly precarious ice as the winter weather fades to spring.
Sheriff Kelly J. Hanson said that Huron County Central Dispatch on Tuesday, March 9, received to calls about people breaking through the ice of the Saginaw Bay. The first call came in at 4:30 p.m. and involved a man entering the water near Geiger Road Public Access in Fair Haven Township.

Two men fell through the Lake Huron ice into the water off of Huron County this afternoon in separate incidents, with the Huron County Sheriff reminding residents of the dangers of being on the ice.
On Tuesday afternoon, Huron Central Dispatch received two emergency calls about people breaking through the ice and were in the water.
The first call came in at roughly 4:30 p.m. with a man in the water near the Geiger Road public access in Fairhaven Township. People were able to hear the man’s screams, eventually locate him, and pull him out.
