MASSILLON  City leaders are kicking around a proposal to raise a fee for landlords to register rental properties to help cleanup neighborhoods.
If approved by City Council, the fee would rise to $80 from the current $50. The fee is now a one-time charge, but under the proposal, the $80 payment would be required each year.
The proposed amendment to the city s building code was discussed for nearly an hour last week by council members, the mayor and administration officials.
This is an opportunity to clean up some of our neighborhoods, Mayor Kathy Catazaro-Perry said while advocating for the policy change. We need to do this, and take this step. ....
