Approximately 310 tree seedlings will be given away by the Greenfield Tree Commission beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, April 30 at the Greenfield City Building.
“This year we have an assortment of seedlings to be given away on a first-come, first-served basis,” said Tree Commission Chairman Ron Coffey, who indicated the seedlings will be packaged in groups of five and given away until supplies run out. ....

The Greenfield Village Council has chosen someone to fill a vacancy left when Mark Branham resigned at the end of January due to personal health reasons.
At the end of Tuesday’s regular meeting, council emerged from an executive session and voted to approve Amie Ernst as the newest council member.
According to council chair Phil Clyburn, two people applied for the spot, and “both were excellent candidates.” He said that while in executive session, council members discussed at length the merits of each of the candidates before voting on the matter once back in open session. ....

Commissioners approve upgrades at Rocky Fork Lake; hear plan to honor C.R. Patterson in Greenfield

Highland County commissioners Jeff Duncan, Terry Britton and David Daniels accepted a bid for electricity upgrades at Rocky Fork Lake and heard plans for an event honoring a Greenfield entrepreneur during their Wednesday, Feb. 17 meeting.
As previously reported, the county announced in April 2019 that they had received a $50,000 grant, as they initially applied to help make improvements at the lake due to the Smokin’ in the Hills event hosted at Rocky Fork Lake. Smokin’ in the Hills is a sanctioned Kansas City Barbecue Society competitio ....
