WATERTOWN â The state Department of Health has ended the free, state-sponsored COVID-19 testing program at Samaritanâs Drive-Up Testing location, 1575 Washington St. The state cited marked improvements in public health as the reason for the closure of the testing site, according to Samaritan. The drive-up testing site had been open to the community since July 13, 2020. Samaritan staff were able to offer 9,000 free COVID-19 tests through the state-sponsored program. Samaritan Health said its leadership has engaged in discussions with Jefferson County Public Health officials about ensuring members of the community have access to free testing, especially those who are un- or under-insured and those who need testing for travel or other purposes. ....

Danny Sterling I want to spotlight a free service that provides critical services to all Oklahomans. 2-1-1 in Oklahoma is a free 24/7 phone service and benefits constituents in our community by providing access to information to more than 18,000 health and human resources statewide. It addresses crisis needs through suicide prevention and crisis intervention services and programs. 2-1-1- is becoming the non-emergency lifeline between the public and available community resources in the event of a natural or man-made disaster. It prevents homelessness through collaborative partnerships in the community and creating a referral plan for callers to improve the quality of their family’s lives. ....
