TAMPA, Fla., June 9, 2021 /PRNewswire/ The Conservative Clergy of Color (CCC), a national, educational nonprofit organization, has announced its support for a lawsuit against Major League Baseball that seeks to return the 2021 All-Star Game to Atlanta following the League s decision in April to move the game to Denver. The move led to a reported $100 million in lost business, primarily for minority-owned businesses in the Atlanta metropolitan area still struggling to recover from the pandemic.
In a letter delivered to federal court Judge Valerie Caproni on Tuesday, CCC Chairman and founding member Bishop Aubrey Shines requested that the Court consider the consequences that minority-owned businesses face because of Commissioner Rob Manfred s decision. Bishop Shines stated that …in a move of reckless political retribution, the MLB took the All-Star game from Atlanta and in doing so deprived local small businesses of more than $1 ....

John Lambert, 25, was sentenced on Tuesday after pleading guilty to wire fraud back in 2019. In addition to his prison term, Judge Valerie Caproni also ordered Lambert to forfeit over $46,000 and pay more than $21,000 in restitution to his victims.
Prosecutors say Lambert posed online as a prominent New York City attorney between August 2016 to April 2018, claiming to have hundreds of clients in the tech and business sectors. During that time, under the alias of Eric Pope, Lambert swindled six people and corporations into paying for supposed legal services.  ....

More specifically, Lambert impersonated Eric Pope, a partner at the firm of Pope & Dunn. Pope specializes in corporate and patent law.
Lambert figured out that he could represent himself to potential clients as Eric Pope, take their money, and do absolutely nothing for it. He did all of this online, and when the feds got wind of it, he faced wire fraud charges for which he ultimately pled guilty. ....
