Nitin Gadkari announces upgradation, reconstruction of several projects across country ANI | Updated: Apr 01, 2021 23:36 IST New Delhi [India], April 1 (ANI): Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday announced a slew of construction and rehabilitation projects for roads in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Ladakh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Ladakh and Telangana. Land acquisition for the work of rehabilitation and up-gradation of Ras - Beawar section of National Highway (NH)-158 in the state of Rajasthan has been approved with a budget Rs 38.282 crores. Construction of Railway Over Bridge at Matiapada on Puri - Konark Road on EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) mode in Odisha has been approved with a budget Rs 137.61 crores, Gadkari tweeted. ....

Telangana Canals Turn Death Traps, Back To Back Accidents Occur Feb 16, 2021, 14:33 IST Canals of various irrigation projects in Telangana though bring life to agriculture also turning out to be death traps in the past couple of years. At least 38 persons died in the incidents where vehicles plunged into these canals, mostly due to human error and negligence. Nalgonda district alone accounts for 27 of 38 such deaths, with the worst accident occurring on June 24, 2018, in which 14 women agriculture labourers met with a watery grave when the tractor in which they were travelling skidded off a service road and plunged into the Musi canal at Valigonda in Yadadri-Bhongir district. The absence of fencing along the canal bank was also said to be a major cause for the accident. ....
