Vientiane, Lao PDR, 28 July 2021 Recorded water levels in the Lower Mekong River Basin (LMB) saw significant increases during the last seven days as a result of heavy rainfall and sudden water releases from dams, the Mekong River Commission (MRC) Secretariat says. But river levels across all monitoring stations remain lower than their alarm or danger points.
Heavy rainfall in several parts of the LMB last week contributed to the rise, with river levels above their long-term averages, mostly at the upper stations, according to MRC’s observed water level and rainfall data. ....

The City of Grand Forks is asking residential, commercial & industrial water users to limit their outdoor water usage as part of Phase 2 of the City’s Drought Management and Demand Reduction Plan.

Starting Thursday, July 22, 2021, residential water users in odd numbered homes are asked to limit the watering of their lawns to between 4 am – 11 am on Mondays and Thursdays. Residential water users in even numbered homes are asked to limit watering of lawns to between 4 am – 11 am on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The city monitors stream flows in our two water sources on a regular basis. The stream flows in the Red Lake River were 222 Cubic Feet per Second (cfs) on July 21st. In May the Red Lake River was flowing at 543 cfs. The Red River had a stream flow of 650 cfs on July 21 ....

Grand Forks city asks residents to voluntarily limit outdoor water usage
Beginning on Friday, July 16, residents will be asked to limit their outdoor water usage, specifically watering of lawns, as part of phase one of the city’s Drought Management and Demand Reduction Plan. Residents are asked to limit watering their lawns to between 4 a.m. to 11 a.m., two days a week.
