Pakistan and UK Launch New Initiative to Promote SMEs
This UK-funded initiative will help enhance Pakistan’s trade diversification and integration into global value chains.
The International Trade Centre (ITC) will implement the Revenue mobilization, Investment and Trade Programme (REMIT) programme. The GBP 5 million project will run from 2020-2024.
These efforts are part of a larger UK-supported REMIT programme aimed at contributing to sustainable and inclusive economic development in the country.
The British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Dr Christian Turner said
Monthly exports for goods and services (worth $3.2 billion) are at an impressive record high – with UK remaining one of the biggest export markets for Pakistan. The new programme will enable trade reforms and create more opportunities for Pakistani businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, to compete in international markets. Influencer Louise Cooney helps students raise €1,700 for homelessness charity


Prizes were also up for grabs, with €1000 worth of well-being themed goodies raffled off to participants.
Member of event committee Niamh Hickey shared that she was “so proud” of her team and thanked Louise Cooney for her “great talk.”
“In these challenging times for students and young people, it is so refreshing to see them turn their attention to others in need. I could not be prouder of our excellent team of student representatives,” said Dr Deirdre Curran from the J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics at NUI Galway.
The Galway Simon Community pledges to help struggling individuals leave homelessness behind for good. They provide housing and support services for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness. ....
